Port of Gothenburg

Harbour Information, Terminals and Facilities
(Gothenburg, Vastra Gotaland, Sweden)

The largest port of its kind in Scandinavia, the Port of Gothenburg sits on Sweden's west coast and within the city limits of the country's second-largest city. Arriving by boat, visitors will pass the attractions of the waterfront, with the unusually convenient feature of alighting in the city centre. The recently opened passenger and cruising terminal is located across from the city centre on the River Göta.

The facilities at the port include a café, snack shop, departure lounge and parking.

Cited for its Baroque 19th century architecture as the youngest of Europe's big cities, Gothenburg has much to keep visitors busy. Most of the attractions are either near the port itself, or around the 'Avenyn', which serves as both a chief landmark and a verdant city avenue. Ferry services operate from the port to destinations in Denmark, Germany, Norway and the UK. Bus and train links are available to major cities, while Gothenburg City Airport lies within the city municipality and Landvetter Airport is situated 23 km / 14 miles from the city centre.
