Both DFDS Seaways and Stena Line offer ferry services from Gothenburg.

DFDS Seaways operates one service from Gothenburg to Newcastle via Kristiansand (Denmark), while Stena Line offers two routes: Gothenburg to Frederikshavn (Denmark) and Gothenburg to Kiel (Germany).


DFDS Seaways


DFDS Seaways operates a route from Gothenburg to Newcastle in the UK (via Kristiansand), twice weekly. Ferries depart Gothenburg at 09:30 and arrive in Newcastle at 10:00. The return journey departs from the UK at 15:00 and after an overnight crossing arrives in Kristansand, Norway at 09:15 local time. After a brief stop in Kristansand, the ship then sontinues its journey to Gothenburg, where it arrives at 17:00.

This route is served by the Princess of Scandinavia, one of DFDS Seaways most modern vessles, which can travel at up to 26 knots.

Stena Line


Stena Line operates services from Gothenburg to Frederikshavn up to eight times a day in the summer months, while there is also a high-speed service three times daily in the summer, with a journey time of 2 hours.

Services between Gothenburg and Kiel in northern Germany take 13 hours to make the voyage, with ferries departing once daily at 19:30, year-round.

All Stena Line ferries offer excellent onboard facilities including a cinema and large selection of restaurants and bars, while the ferries accept both passengers and vehicles.
